---------------------------<br>Old Italian 800 Silver Rococo Candlesticks - 904g - 12 1/2" - Cherub/Putti<br>DIMENSIONS:<br>12 1/2" tall x 5 5/8" diam.<br>Candle cup interior diameter:  just under 1" diam.<br>Total weight:  904 grams.<br>DESCRIPTION:<br>Pair of antique candlesticks in rococo style.<br>Cast solid silver (.800 purity).  Presumably cast in pieces and assembled.  Hand chased detail.  Featuring putti, cherubs, flowers and typical rococo devices.  Removable candle cups.  Heavy.  All original.<br>Markings:  both are stamped "800 Italy" on the base edge.  I find no maker's marks.<br>Late 19th / early 20th century.  Italy.<br>CONDITION:<br>Both candlesticks are in excellent original condition.  No damage and no significant wear.  No restorations / repairs.<br>No bends, splits, dents, dings, creases, gouges, losses, breaks.  No tool marks.  No significant scratches or rubs.  No looseness.<br>No signs abuse.<br>One of the candle cups fits snugly but is easily removable.  The exterior of the other candle cup has been wrapped with a bit of cellophane to make a snugger fit in the candlestick so that it can't accidentally fall out.<br>Some typical light use- and handling-related wear:  scattered fine / superficial scratches and rubs.  Consult photos.  Nothing at all significant or conspicuous.<br>Old patina as found with some typical age-related oxidation.<br>Note that some of the details are not particularly crisp (putti, cherubs, etc.).  I suspect these candlesticks were made this way intentionally in order to simulate age (German Hanau silver of the same era is also made in this "antique" style).  I do not believe this is the result of machine polishing.  Please look at the photos and draw your own conclusions.<br>These display beautifully.
