    Description

This is an outstanding ethnographic spiritual relic imported from Tanzania. It's a doll used in ritual and ceremony by the Nyamwezi tribe who are known as "the people of the moon". This sacred marionette of sorts has been carved from a heavyweight wood and features a gourd stomach in which ritual substances are stored through a hole deliberately broken into the gourd. The Nyamwezi practice a sort of traditional animism with ancestral spirits playing a major role in the cosmology. This doll would be used as a female ancestor and treated with high regard. She is very rare and in good shape considering the fact she has obviously been used for many decades. This unique power figure measures approximately 24" in height by 8" in width and depth and Parcel Post shipping in the U.S. will be .00, as she is quite heavy. I will reimburse any extra postage if the actual cost turns out to be less. Paypal and checks accepted and all auctions are unconditionally guaranteed, too. Thank you!
