Old Italian 800 Silver Rococo Candlesticks - 904g - 12 1/2" - Cherub/Putti
DIMENSIONS:
12 1/2" tall x 5 5/8" diam.
Candle cup interior diameter:  just under 1" diam.
Total weight:  904 grams.
DESCRIPTION:
Pair of antique candlesticks in rococo style.
Cast solid silver (.800 purity).  Presumably cast in pieces and assembled.  Hand chased detail.  Featuring putti, cherubs, flowers and typical rococo devices.  Removable candle cups.  Heavy.  All original.
Markings:  both are stamped "800 Italy" on the base edge.  I find no maker's marks.
Late 19th / early 20th century.  Italy.
CONDITION:
Both candlesticks are in excellent original condition.  No damage and no significant wear.  No restorations / repairs.
No bends, splits, dents, dings, creases, gouges, losses, breaks.  No tool marks.  No significant scratches or rubs.  No looseness.
No signs abuse.
One of the candle cups fits snugly but is easily removable.  The exterior of the other candle cup has been wrapped with a bit of cellophane to make a snugger fit in the candlestick so that it can't accidentally fall out.
Some typical light use- and handling-related wear:  scattered fine / superficial scratches and rubs.  Consult photos.  Nothing at all significant or conspicuous.
Old patina as found with some typical age-related oxidation.
Note that some of the details are not particularly crisp (putti, cherubs, etc.).  I suspect these candlesticks were made this way intentionally in order to simulate age (German Hanau silver of the same era is also made in this "antique" style).  I do not believe this is the result of machine polishing.  Please look at the photos and draw your own conclusions.
