Description
Vintage Stanley Ferrostat -- New York City -- Stainless Steel Thermos. Condition is "Used".William Stanley Jr. Invented his thermos in 1913.
His invention was a All- steel Double-wall Vacuum Bottle. All other thermos' were made with a glass lined interior -- which if the thermos was dropped -- it could break. His design being all steel - solved that problem.
This being stamped on the bottom with New York City -- means this was from 1916 or later.
See photos of text above for more information.
This thermos is a "MONSTER " -- it is heavy - weighs 4 Lbs 6 Ozs and is 16" tall and 4 1/2" diameter at the base.
The opening at the top is lined in a Cobalt Blue color.
It does have some dents on the top cup and some scratches on the body and some rust on the bottom.
Who knows -- if someone wanted to really clean up this thermos -- it might just still work !!!.
Great addition for any Thermos collector or for any Retro decor for display.
